Graduate Fellow, On Campus Resources    

Position Summary:   

Works alongside the Director of Campus Resources and the CHR staff to coordinate, prepare and implement resources for On-Campus focus within the CHR. This branch of the CHR serves the undergraduate students at John Brown University, as well as preparing resources accessible to college-age students more broadly. Assess current needs of the JBU campus, among both students and staff, and collaborate within departments to provide resources to empower and equip healthy relationships of all kinds for college students. Researching, writing and implementing content for students through outlets such as events, workshops, online resources, etc. Graduate Fellows receive a stipend for hourly work at $12/hr, and a scholarship towards tuition will be awarded.

Role qualifications:

  • Graduate Counseling student accepted or enrolled (must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits during the academic term).
  • Available to work at the CHR for up to 24 hours/week during the regular JBU academic term.
  • Able to commit to at least the 2025-26 academic year, with the potential for longer periods.
  • Commitment to JBU’s Articles of Faith, Mission, and Objectives, and a desire to be a role model for students and customers by demonstrating an active           Christian faith in personal example and in work-related responsibilities.

Position responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with Director of Campus Resources and/or her designate to set objectives
  • Performs community-based assessment requiring conversations with students, faculty and staff
  • Meets with students for one-on-one conversations about relationship issues
  • Facilitates workshops for students and staff
  • Teaches “Don’t Cancel that Class” classes as assigned
  • Engages in the composition and development of programmatic content
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Organizes and executes events on campus, both educational and social

Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work productively independently, and a self starter
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, as well as an ability to create, input and analyze data sets within MS Excel
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials
  • Ability to research and synthesize gathered information

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Familiarity with community-based adult education
  • Experience working with college-based programming and development
  • Possesses a valid Drivers License and qualified to use personal or a JBU fleet vehicle

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required.

May have undergrad interns or work studies reporting to this position

 

Physical demands and work environment:

·   Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms,  balance, stoop, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

·  Regulatory: The ability to drive highways and cities in heavy traffic

·   Work environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.

 

Start Date: : The position commences August 25, 2025 and ends May 9, 2026, with the potential for an extension
