Red Flags Discussed:

  1. They argue with or push back on boundaries that you have set.
  2. You feel nervous or uncomfortable when they are angry.
  3. You spend less and less time with your friends – becoming isolated.
  4. They have poorly managed jealousy.
  5. Your friends or loved ones don’t want to be around them – you want to keep the relationship secretive.
  6. They often criticize you – you experience lower self-esteem in this relationship.

Discussion questions for reflection with your friends:

  • What comes to mind when you think of a red flag?
  • Which red flag stood out to you most and why?
  • How have you seen manipulation impact relationships?
  • What is a practical way you could be attentive to potential red flags in your life?
  • Who are three safe people in your life you can go to to process concerning behavior with?
  • Who in your life might call out behaviors you need to work on and how open do you feel to receiving that feedback?
  • If you don’t have those types of people in your life right now, how could you be intentional about building that network?
  • How would you approach a friend who is in a relationship with some red flags?
